Now meets API SN Plus AND Dexos™ 1 Generation 2.

API SN Plus addresses current issues prior to the release of the next engine oil specification update due out in late 2020 or early 2021. The use of turbocharged, direct injection gasoline engines has increased significantly over the last few years to improve fuel economy and efficiency with lighter weight.

The higher power density of these engines makes them prone to an abnormal combustion event called Low Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI). The results of LSPI can range from an audible knock to engine damage. Unlike the conventional knock, an LSPI event cannot be predicted and corrected by simply adjusting the spark timing. These LSPI events usually occur at low speed and high load. However, the exact cause has not been fully determined. There are several factors that seem to affect the occurrence of LSPI. This includes the engine design, fuel quality, as well as engine oil chemistry.

Certain detergent packages tend to increase the occurrence of LSPI, whereas the use of Molybdenum compounds have shown decrease in LSPI when used at high levels.

Engine damage includes broken spark plugs, cracked pistons, and bent valves. SWEPCO 303 is formulated to overcome the LSPI issues and provide excellent performance in turbo-charged, direct injection engines.

SWEPCO 303 Premium Multi-Grade Automotive Engine Oil also meets GM’s Dexos™ 1 Generation 2 engine oil specifications, as well as meets or exceeds Ford, Chrysler, and most other European and Asian engine oil specifications.
